Mistra investigates three possible new research areas

Smart maintenance of society’s infrastructure, smart materials and sustainable consumption are three new research areas that Mistra is now exploring.

Mistra’s Board has decided to investigate three new potential research areas. Whether there will be calls for project proposals in these areas, and eventually new research programmes, will be decided later. First, working groups composed of international experts are to be appointed for each of the three areas.

Every working group will analyse in detail what challenges exist and identify the issues on which, and the extent to which, research and innovation can help to meet these challenges. The working groups will also compile an overview description of the status of international research in their respective areas and the position of Swedish research in an international perspective. Finally, the working groups will propose a possible orientation for a research programme, ahead of the Board decision on what funding, if any, to provide.
