Pasture-raised cattle living outdoors, even in winter, grazing between different locations can help create sustainable beef production. The burden on land and water resources is consequently lessened and the animals thrive outdoors.

American Professor Elinor Ostrom, board member of the Mistra funded Stockholm Resilience Center, has been awarded the Nobel Prize in economics. She shares the prize with Professor Oliver Williamson (not pictured).

Future Forest Researchers: New Theories About Insect Infestation
Rising temperatures affect plants, herbivorous insects and predatory insects in different ways. It is therefore easier to predict the risk of future outbreaks of herbivorous insects by focusing on the interaction among species, rather than on the individual insect species.

Stockholm Invests With an Emphasis on Business Development
The Stockholm consortium´s proposal for Urban Futures did not receive money from Mistra. However, that did not prevent Stockholm´s strong team from realizing their ideas on sustainable urban development. Several concrete projects are presently underway on the theme of Changing Minds.

Better Than Expected Results for the Carbon Disclosure Project
The 2009 Carbon Disclosure Project has been completed. This year’s survey has shown improvements in several areas, both qualitatively and quantitatively. On October 20, the results from three different studies will be presented at Hasselbacken in Stockholm.
