Greenchem in Chicago

The research programme

Greenchem — Specialty Chemicals from Renewable Resources

has organized a Swedish panel at the World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology & Bioprocessing in Chicago, together with two other representatives of industrial biotechnology.

The panel, which covered a broad area of technology (Greenchem, biogas and bio-refining) was held under the theme Renewable feedstocks, and was very well received by a large and interested audience.

Contacts
Greenchem´s focus was new for most of the audience. In the United States, interest is primarily focused on biofuels and bio-polymers. This was reflected in the fact that most of the chemical companies represented (DSM, BASF, Evonik, Lonza, etc.) were fromEurope . “Greenchem already has contacts with these companies, but it was valuable for us to describe our work in a commercial way in the midst of these and other companies," says Harald Skogman from Greenchem.

Group in Germany
Skogman also related that in the follow-up discussion there were many words of praise about the far-sightedness of Mistra´s investment in Greenchem. Invitations to collaborate with a group in Germany and large Dutch company are under further exploration following the researchers´ return from Chicago.
