Root Rot - A Cause of Considerable Damage in Forests

Of all the forest pathogens, the Heterobasidion annosum, a basidiomycete fungus, is the worst. Its cost to Swedish forestry industry each year is almost one billion kronor. A solution to the problem may be around the corner, thanks to gene technology - and a good spray bottle.
The purpose of the Reportage series is to give a popular science presentation, in words and pictures, of issues, practices and research that are linked in one way or another to the activities of Future Forests. Each Reportage is published in Swedish and English.
