Sustainable forest management at Rio+20

On 20-22 June the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio +20, takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. SLU and Future Forests will participate on behalf of the Swedish Ministry for Rural Affairs with an exhibition and seminars at the conference.

The aim is to disseminate information and knowledge on sustainable forest management in a national and global perspective. The research programme Future Forests will present its concept of combining interdisciplinary research and collaboration with stakeholders.

Rio+20 follows up on the UN conference held in Rio in 1992, which came to be of crucial importance for the direction towards sustainable development world over. The main theme of the conference this year is green economy and poverty eradication.

SLU has been selected to organise an on-site side event.
