The Heureka Research Programme

Anlysis and planning tools for sustainable multi-purpose forestry


Heureka was a multidisciplinary research programme carried out by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and the Forestry Research Institute of Sweden (Skogforsk). The programme ran from 2002 to 2009.  

The research programme developed computer based tools to support analysis and planning. The tools are intended for a variety of users and are designed for the users´ specific problem areas.

The Heureka system includes a number of applications (software) for different users and problem areas. The three main software are the following:

As the research programme has ended a unit established at the Dept of Forest Resource Management, SLU, Umeå, now has the responsibility for the maintenance of the Heureka system.
