Programme Organisation
The Sustainable Investment research programme is funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research, Mistra which invests in research for sustainable development. Mistra is not a research-conducting organization. All Mistra programmes are has a main contractor, a programme board, a programme manger and project leaders.

Structure of a Mistra programme

The main contractor has the responsibility to ensure that the programme is carried out and to look after the financial and legal administration of the programme, in collaboration with the other research providers. The main contractor for Sustainable Investments is School of Business, Economics and Law at Göteborg University.

The responsibilities of the programme board are for example to make decisions of strategic significance for the programme, to monitor the research carried out and to ensure that the results are put to use by the intended users. The board consists of three to six members.

The Sustainable Investments programme board consists of four members. The board composition is designed to ensure that the point of view of the user receives active attention. The chairman is Lars Gavelin, Senior Advisor at the Swedish Ministry of Finance. The other board members are: Inga-Lill Carlberg, Head of Private Banking Sweden, Nordea; Hans Petter Graver, Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Oslo and Helena Levander; CEO, Nordic Investor Services.

The BISI programme is then carried out in five projects.
