Focus on climate research at Misum Forum 2021
Climate policy, the price of carbon and investment portfolios. The Misum research centre’s one-day conference Misum Forum 2021 was on the theme of challenges and opportunities resulting from climate change. Recordings of all the sessions are available to watch now.
On 8 October, Misum – Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets organised the Misum Forum 2021 one-day conference. The sessions include a panel discussion that featured representatives from industry and a focus on the impact, challenges and opportunities of the climate crisis.
Joseph Stiglitz, Professor at Columbia University and recipient of the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2001, used his presentation to highlight why the urgency and extent of the climate crisis are underestimated in economic work and the importance of working with a broad palette of instruments in climate policy.
Several of Misum’s researchers also took part to talk more about their research areas in relation to climate change. Issues raised included carbon pricing, the effect of the implemented carbon tax in the UK and how sustainable markets can be created by combining circular business models and public procurement.
