Mistra Dialogue webinar: Food of the Future

Climate and biodiversity challenges are bringing the issue of our current food system to a head. For these challenges to be met, production and consumption of food need to change fundamentally. What are the problems and challenges? What consumer behaviour can be promoted? And how can sustainable investment move us in the right direction? Welcome to the Food of the Future webinar held by Mistra and Sweden’s Sustainable Investment Forum (Swesif).

Date: 6 May 2021

Time: 10:00‒11:15

Location: Zoom

Our current food system accounts for a high proportion of global greenhouse-gas emissions. A third of the world’s farmed food goes to waste. Food production and land use also lead to biodiversity loss, pollution and harmful environmental impact on soil and water. To meet the challenges, our ways of producing and consuming food need to undergo fundamental changes.

Based on Mistra’s research programmes Mistra Food Futures and Mistra Sustainable Consumption, an overview of the structure of the food sector — its challenges and potential in terms of sustainability — will be provided. We will also delve deeper into how we can achieve sustainable food consumption; consumer behaviour; and obstacles to, as well as scope for, scaling up various initiatives and strategies. Prospects of sustainable investment in the various parts of the food sector will also be discussed.

Welcome to the Mistra Dialogue Future Food webinar held by Mistra and Swesif.

The session will be in Swedish on Zoom, and as a participant you will have the opportunity to address questions to the speakers during the webinar.
